General duties of a clinical research nurse

Although it might differ slightly there are certain general daily duties that a clinical research nurse will have:

Setting up new trials. This will involve the screening of volunteers to make sure that their physical condition is as required by the study protocols and excluding those who do not fit with clinical trial requirements.
Coordinating the appointments and treatments of volunteers.
Undertaking trial specific and routine assessments of patients.
Reporting and recording side-effects of any experimental trial and providing volunteers with the necessary clinical care.
Interviewing patients to obtain qualitative data.
Establishing excellent lines of communication with the research team as well as the patients.
Contributing information to the study reports from a nursing point of view
